I never win anything. Really....I don't...Ever! Well except for maybe the husband lottery. But today my streak has ended. I read this Mommies with Style blog and a few weeks back they had a contest for a breast feeding log. My life is super organized already so when I read about the contest to win a free one I figured I didn't have anything to lose. Well low and behold, I won! Here's the blog post announcing the winners: http://www.mommieswithstyle.com/congrats-to-our-aunt-lalas-log-winners/
Here's a link to the web site for the folks that make the log: www.rosiebear.com. I picked the design Brown Lace because at the time I didn't know what we were having.
So as a thank you to Mommies with Style and Aunt LaLa's I'm doing this post to give them credit for finally making me a winner!!
Love,
Jenny

It's a BOY!
Yesterday we had our 18 week appointment and ultrasound. What a day! When we first got started the ultrasound tech began by measuring the brain. Everything checked out great there. Our little boy gave us a quick thumbs up and we saw that he had nice size arms, hands and fingers. Her next stop was from up underneath so we could take a peek between the legs. Before she even said anything I saw it! Of course she then confirmed its' a BOY by flashing it across the screen for us and pointing it out. Josh immediately had a big grin and got a little closer to the screen to check it out and make sure that was what he was really seeing. The rest of the ultrasound went well. Functioning kidneys, liver and bladder. Two long skinny legs and nice size feet (no doubt from my side of the family!). He gave us a big yawn, apparently we were keeping him up. His spine looked good and most importantly he had a strong healthy heart with four chambers. All very important things! He weighed in at 10 oz which is a week ahead of schedule. They didn't move my due date, it just appears we have growing, healthy boy. Oh, and what a cute face! We could see his nose (in the picture above you can see it pretty well) and other features although it's a 2D ultrasound so it's not as clear as it could be. We even have a DVD of the ultrasound to share with family!
After the ultrasound we visited my doctor. All of my vitals checked out, weight is good, belly is finally growing although she was surprised it wasn't bigger (really?? it feels HUGE to me). We got to hear the heartbeat and we were given all the instructions on childbirth classes, registering for the hospital and purchasing a car seat. WOW, if it didn't feel real before, it certainly does now.
So of course now that we know it's a boy the question of the day is, "What are you going to name him?" The answer is, not sure yet... We had a girl named picked out (those seem to be easier) but we still haven't finalized the boy name. I figure I will set a deadline of 30 weeks for the name which gives us another two months or so to decide.
I included more ultrasound photos in the link below. Enjoy!

Happy Independence Day!
Saturday we had a few friends over. Brian and Stephanie Barrow came up from Tampa with their boxer Ryleigh, Katie and Brad and their boxer Ali, and Caitlin and Mike all came over. There was lots of eating involved and catching up of course. We attempted to go see the fireworks in downtown Alachua which had been publicized as the “biggest small town fireworks display.” Apparently not big enough though! We parked less than a quarter of a mile away from the park, along with the rest of the town, and when the fireworks started they were nowhere in sight! We couldn’t even see them a little!! Oh well, we had fun anyway and there were plenty of sparklers and small fireworks around for us to enjoy.
Sunday involved more eating. Seems to be a trend lately. We went to our friends Rich and Judy Parker’s house and enjoyed yummy burgers and amazing triple chocolate cake! By about 3 p.m. I was snoozing on the couch and ready for a nap.
This week is a big one for us. On Thursday we go in for our 18 week appointment and ultrasound. This ultrasound is the big one where they will take all the measurements and we’ll get lots of pictures and a DVD of the baby. We also find out if we’re having a boy or a girl. Lots of people have been asking what we think we’re having, and what we want to have. The answer to both is we don’t know and we don’t care. I don’t think we have a hunch either way at this point. Some days we call it a she and some days it’s a he. All we really want is a healthy baby and we’ll just go from there…. check back Thursday for an update!
