This past weekend we made a quick trip back to West Palm Beach to see my family. The trip down was pretty scary with intense rain the entire way. Colton slept which was good and bad because then we we arrived he threw a pretty big fit and did not want to go to sleep. Daddy saved the night and shared a room with him. What a good man - this momma does not do twin beds! On Saturday my parents took Colton to Lion Country Safari in the morning. Lion Country Safari is part petting zoo and part drive through safari. They had such a blast feeding the giraffes and my mom even rode a camel with Colton. Better her than me, lol. He loved the drums and seeing all his favorite animals. I included an album of their pictures below.
While my parents and Colton were at Lion Country Safari Josh and I went to Home Depot to check out some flooring options. We've been wanting to redo our floors downstairs since we moved into the house (carpet + shedding dog + children = not good!) but we have a rather large downstairs and as I'm sure everyone knows...wood isn't cheap! After looking and researching and checking out every possible option (must be extremely durable, waterproof, lifetime warranty and at least 10mm) we decided that our best bet was a durable laminate. We found a laminate we liked at Lowe's and they had an awesome installation deal (basically free) going so we were very close to biting the bullet. Well, after a few hours in Home Depot we found the perfect flooring (it's even Greenguard certified for indoor air quality), less expensive granite countertops (long story but we have to do those too!) and they are doing the same installation deal as Lowe's!! Loving the Home Depot right now!! Well, as you can probably piece together, that means in the next month and a half our entire house will be torn apart and reassembled. I get chills just thinking about all the work and destruction but the goal is to have it all done and be put back together by Thanksgiving (3 weeks out from my due date). This also means major work on the nursery will have to wait until after the flooring is done. Wish us luck (and lots and lots of prayers). The picture shows the wood we selected although it's a little bit brighter than what you see here.

Back to our weekend - after Lion Country Safari and a nice long nap my family came over and we had a fun little cook-out. Colton always provides such great entertainment and keeps everyone laughing and busy collecting sticks. He wanted to be outside the entire time and I can't say that I blame him. Being inside watching the Gator game was no fun at all!!
Sunday was a yummy breakfast and more stick collecting and then we headed back to Gainesville. It was a quick trip but so great to see my family. Hard to believe that the next time we get together there will be a second Highlander baby!
This weekend is nursery painting, new mixer recipe testing and hopefully a trip to the pumpkin patch! Next week I fly to Madison, WI for work and then we have a quick but fun family vacation to Charlotte, NC the following weekend. Oh ya, and we're tearing up our house during all this! I'm pretty sure we've lost our minds.
Hope everyone is doing well!!
Love,
The Highlanders
