Happy Valentine’s Day! This morning Colton woke up to a sweet surprise from his mama and daddy. Valentine’s has never been a huge event for Josh and me but it’s fun now that we have a day to show Colton even more love and attention than we already do :) I am looking forward to the delicious meal Josh is preparing tonight. We always celebrate at home with a nice meal that Josh prepares for me. It’s been our tradition since our first Valentines together 6 1/2 years ago!
For his first valentines Colton made sugar cookies with red sprinkles and wrote a special note to his friends at school. Well, he held the glue stick and tried to eat it while I made them, but you get the point. I also added the main allergens to the back side of the valentines, ha ha. Not something I would have ever thought to do but now that we have a confirmed diagnosis (peanut allergy) I am a million times more focused on what goes into my child’s body – and his little buddies!
After a round of stomach virus last week (the second since Colton started daycare) I’m hopeful that this week will be illness free! I’m off to Madison, WI on Wednesday and won’t be home until Friday. I checked and the highs are going to be in the 40’s which is fairly warm for this time of year. I’m thrilled…really, I am. Despite freezing to death, it should be a good trip. I’m heading up to do some meetings with our fine Wisconsin legislators at the capitol. I’ve made the trip to Tallahassee for these sort of meetings but this will be my first to another state’s capital, I’m looking forward to it.
More on the peanut allergy and our big boy soon. I’m still wrapping my brain around what this will mean for our family. When your child has an allergy that scores 4 out of 5 on the seriousness scale, it’s scary and overwhelming. Coming from someone with zero allergies, this is taking some time to settle in.
Below is Colton enjoying a little early morning dance.
Love,
Jenny
