This past weekend Josh and I went on our last vacation before the baby arrives (the trendy thing to call it now is a Babymoon). We were very fortunate to have been able to do this trip with all expenses paid. Back in St. Thomas Josh worked on a Marriott Vacation Club Project and as a thank you for the Topping Out of one building all of the employees received a $600 Marriott gift card, good for any Marriott in the world. We had been hanging on to it in hopes of getting back to Colorado one day but since that didn't seem like a possibility this year (or next) we decided to use it for this trip.
On Saturday we started off with a little Gator Football tailgating. We didn't have tickets to the game but that didn't stop us from joining all of our friends on campus to kick off the start of the season. I included a few photos. We had a great time and how cute is little Annabelle in her cheerleading uniform? She's got this tailgating thing down! Hard not to in a family of hard-core UF fans.
After tailgating we drove over to Ponte Vedra Beach near Jacksonville. A funny thing happened along the way....Josh asked me if I remembered to pack the gift card. Whoops! I'll blame it on the pregnancy brain. Thankfully we had some friends staying at our house and they were kind enough to fax over a copy to the hotel who graciously accepted it in lieu of the real card (phew)!
Sunday was the first real day of our vacation. We couldn't have kicked it off better. We started at the spa with massages and facials (yes, both of us). After a few hours of pampering we laid around the spa pool and relaxed. Oh yes, Jenny in a bikini was probably quite the sight. I wondered if I would be self conscious but nope, I let the belly hang out and Baby Boy Highlander seemed to like it! He was kicking up a storm as I covered my belly in sunscreen and he especially liked floating in the pool. Thank goodness, maybe he'll be a water baby. The rest of the day we just relaxed and then had an amazing dinner at this great little place called Barbara Jeans. It was the most amazing, home cooked Southern food and it was right on the river. Perfect!
Monday was more relaxing and then we headed out to do some shopping before heading back to Gainesville. The only thing notable about that part of the trip was that we finally found our baby bedding for the nursery (woo hoo!). We can now paint and work on decorating. The day concluded with a birthday dinner with our friends the Parker's. They cooked up a delicious meal and an amazing birthday cake for me. It was the perfect weekend and so far 29 doesn't seem so bad!!
