25 Weeks and Counting!

Wow, time is sure flying by these days! I'm 25 weeks now with only 15 weeks to go until D-day (assuming he doesn't come early). Things have been really great these last few weeks/months. I've felt great and I'm not so big yet that I can't get around and do all the things I normally do. I've definitely slowed down a bit because I'm a little unsteady and I've been more tired than normal but nothing I can't work through. I did discover recently that my lack of energy is probably tied to my low iron count. I took the gestational diabetes test (and passed!!) but they noted that my iron was low. It's really common for pregnant women and there is an easy fix, iron supplements! I'll be picking them up today at the store and hopefully that should help.

The nursery is currently still pink and white stripes. I have purchased one set of bedding and shipped it back and I'm on the hunt again. I have not been able to find a single thing that I like! I want something simple and classic but I want it to have enough color that I can really decorate with it. My first attempt was a blue/brown striped set. Unfortunately online it looked like baby blue and chocolate brown and then when it arrived it was more of a teal blue and yellow brown. Yellow brown reminds me of something else baby related and I'm sure I'll be seeing enough of that color that I don't need it in his room! We're going to try a few more stores in Jacksonville when we're there over Labor Day Weekend for our birthday/babymoon trip. Keep your fingers crossed! We don't want to bring Baby Boy Highlander into the world with a pink and white nursery!

The Highlander household has been buzzing with work lately. Josh and I have a long list of projects to complete and we have set an optimistic goal of October 31. We really want to have the month of November to relax and prepare mentally. We'll see if our plan works out or not. Our big projects include painting our ceilings white (when we bought the house they were the same color as the walls, a neutral beige), putting wood floors down in the master bedroom, finishing up some window trim and installing my custom closet to match Josh's. Of course the nursery is way up there on that list but until we have colors that one is on hold.

I have included a few photos for everyone. We had our friends Brian and Stephanie here to visit last weekend. They are huge Gator fans and season ticket holders so I'm sure we'll be seeing lots of them again soon. Speaking of the Gators....our #1 team is training hard and getting ready for the season to start! You can feel the excitement in the air here in Gainesville, the fans are ready!! Of course we have everything stacked against us - 2009 National Champs, pre-season #1 (typically a bad luck charm), and no Percy Harvin. Fortunately, we've got Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow and good things just seem to happen for those two. And they certainly deserve it! I'm sure you'll hear lots more from me about the Gators as the season starts up, but for now I'm just sharing a photo of some of Baby Boy's Gator gear for the 2010 season (he's already stocked up!!). He'll be about 9 months by then and he'll most certainly be doing the Gator chomp, if his daddy has anything to say about it.

Disney World

Just a few photos from our trip to Disney this weekend. Last week I attended a Senate Republican Fundraiser for work at Disney's Animal Kingdom. They gave us free park hopper passes so we decided to go back on Saturday. I know what you're thinking - Disney in August with a pregnant woman. Not fun! But it was!! Really!! Because we had free passes there was no rush to get there by a certain time and we didn't feel obligated to stay all day or to do every possible thing at the park to get our money's worth. We drove up early Saturday and then just took our time walking to all the different parts of the park and riding all the rides that were appropriate for expecting moms (pretty much everything except Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain). The longest line we waited in was 35 minutes and that was for Peter Pan. Most rides took about 10 minutes or less, it was great!

It was definitely hot but we stayed cool with ice cream and water of course :-) By about 4:30 p.m. I noticed that my feet and hands were turning into little sausages so we decided it was time to go. No biggie, we were both ready! We went to our hotel and cleaned up and then had a nice dinner at Bahama Breeze. It was a lot of fun, kind of like a little staycation. We didn't take many photos but I posted a few.

Oh - baby boy Highlander definitely enjoyed his first trip to Disney. He's been very active lately but while we were at Disney he didn't stop moving! You could see my belly poke out and move for most of the day. He especially enjoyed It's a Small World and Pirate of the Caribbean!

BOB Stroller

We've been so blessed by our parents in preparing for our first baby. Josh's parents were kind enough to purchase our baby's crib (which arrives in another 8 weeks or so) and my parents bought our stroller and also will be starting the baby's college savings fund. The first of our big baby purchases arrived this week - our BOB stroller.

I first heard about this stroller on a blog. It's a crossover stroller - part every day use and part jogging stroller. Perfect!! I won't be able to run it with for the first few months when the baby is small but eventually it will serve two purposes in our lives, making a separate jogging stroller one less thing that we have to buy! We opted for black and tan because it was neutral and hopefully when we have baby #2 (at least a few years out!) we can reuse it regardless of whether it's a boy or girl.

Here are a few pictures. Assembly was SO easy, we just snapped on the wheels and we were ready to go! We do have to attach the car seat adapter but we'll wait on that for a while. Thanks again mom and dad, we love you!
