Memorial Day Memories

I’m having a good day so I might as well use that as an opportunity to take care of TWO blog posts! The first is for Memorial Day and our awesome trip to the Highlander lake house in Andalusia, Alabama.

We planned to drive up early on Friday afternoon (avoiding the evening meltdown we had on our last drive) but we were a bit detoured by pink eye. We had a quick stop at the doctor’s office for some eye drops and then we were on the way. We arrived about 8 p.m. (9 p.m. Gainesville time) on Friday night. Colton did really well most of the way but was fussy for about the last 30-45 minutes. We were all grateful to get there! Thankfully, the pink eye never materialized into anything and we never even had to use the drops.

Saturday we attended Josh’s cousin Hunter’s wedding in Brewton, Alabama. Hunter and his new wife Kristin were so stinkin’ cute!! It was a very simple but very pretty wedding and even though it’s young love, you know when it’s real J It was sort of an old school wedding with the ceremony followed by cake and punch in the church hall. We really enjoyed visiting with family and being there to celebrate with the bride and groom.

Saturday evening we headed back to Andalusia and enjoyed some yummy bbq for dinner. Sunday was our Memorial Day celebration. The day was filled with backyard pools, boat rides, swimming in the lake and lots of yummy food. We also enjoyed birthday cake for Papa, Kim and Eron (who couldn’t be with us). Colton and Darby both had a blast. Darby is certainly a water dog and he enjoyed every single second of jumping off the dock.

Monday we relaxed and enjoyed breakfast (I think we ate biscuits and bacon every morning!!) and then got on the road around noon time to head for home. Colton did very well on the ride home and crashed that night when we got back!

We’re so blessed to have grandparents on both sides of our family with vacation homes. I love that we have such relaxing places to take our children where we can make so many memories. Up next, we’ll be visiting my parents cottage in Steinhatchee for 4th of July and possibly enjoying some yummy, fresh caught scallops during scalloping season!

Memorial Day Weekend

Love,
Jenny
